#WorldMSDay #BringingUsCloser
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an exceptionally difficult disease to research for a number of reasons:
The cause of MS is unknown
The effects are within two of the most inaccessible parts of the body, the brain and spinal cord
There is no single pattern or course of the disease making it unpredictable
Despite these difficulties, a wide range of research is taking place around the world.
In 2009, the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) and its members initiated the first World MS Day, which has since been marked the 30thof May. The 2018 campaign is called #bringinguscloserand the theme is research. The campaign is about connecting people affected by MS with those involved in MS research and fundraising. It's a chance to celebrate what has been achieved so far, and share aspirations for the future.
